Use the latest software, ALWAYS stay on subscription, don't let your bosses cheap out, 1000/year is not bad at all for the latest features and bug fixes.

Sure maybe gaming cards work but then why does autocad only certify Quadro cards? I've used one worse then this on 2014 with no problems. The fancier cards are really only great for complex modeling software like manufacturing and MEP/REVIT.

Maybe you need a Quadro Card, Heres a K600 for 160$, its entry level and will suffice.

i cant go on enough about how important it is. I've tried it, same computer, same software (copied hard drive over/no reinstall easus todo backup) its crazy. I will tell you the difference is night/day on running CAD.

Who cares if you have 500gb HDD? it never gets used since everything should be saved on the server right? pick up a 120gb SSD for 60$ this helps load ALL software faster, you will see boot speeds go from 1min+ to 15 seconds. Make sure you have an SSD, I can stress the importance of this on any workstation.So if you have alot of stuff your video card is working hard to put it all on the screen.
